How we count
These figures cover only the 66 topics we have mapped so far, not every law in every country, and they change as we add maps. A higher count means more of our topics are banned, not that a country is better or worse: many bans protect people, and countries whose laws are easier to find can look stricter than they are. Restrictions are not counted here, and each map names its sources. Maps of things that are required, free or a named crime are left out.
