Is sex selection illegal in India?
Yes. Sex selection is banned in India. Choosing a baby's sex is a crime - even revealing it is banned.
Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act 1994 bans sex selection before or after conception and bars telling anyone the foetus's sex; the ART (Regulation) Act 2021 s.26 also bans pre-selecting a child's sex in IVF.
