Is jaywalking illegal in the Netherlands?
Partly. Jaywalking is restricted in the Netherlands. Cross anywhere you like; only walking through a red man is fineable.
Crossing anywhere is legal (no jaywalking concept in Dutch law); only ignoring a red pedestrian light is an offence. Amsterdam handhavers may fine it but say they rarely do (NH Nieuws). No 2025-26 amount confirmed.
